Description

Medtronic offers a spinal fusion system intended for individuals with cervical issues. The titanium ATLANTIS® system is designed for an anterior approach, and its components come in a variety of sizes to accommodate each patient’s unique anatomy.

This innovative system combines two existing Medtronic technologies in one plate:

  • A quarter-turn locking mechanism designed to prevent screws from backing out or loosening during fusion.
  • A plate design that provides surgeons with the necessary visibility to better see the spine.

The ATLANTIS® anterior cervical plate is a system consisting of a variety of shapes and sizes of bone plates, screws, and related instruments. Fixation is provided by bone screws inserted into the vertebral body of the cervical spine through an anterior approach. This system is designed for anterior intersomatic screw fixation from C2 to T1.

The system is used in the temporary stabilization of the anterior spine during the development of cervical spinal fusions in patients with degenerative disc disease (as defined by discogenic neck pain, with disc degeneration confirmed by patient history and radiographic studies), trauma (including fractures), tumors, deformities (defined as kyphosis, lordosis, or scoliosis), pseudoarthrosis, and/or failed previous anterior fusions.

Titanium occipito-cervical and upper thoracic fixation.

Multiaxial screws. Allows for 60º conical screw angulation or 30º in another direction. The superior closure allows for independent placement.
